Abstrak

Perubahan kadar leukosit merupakan indikasi penting dalam kasus malaria karena memiliki kaitan dengan respon imun pasien menghadapi infeksi parasit malaria. Setiap jenis infeksi malaria memberikan informasi klinik yang bermanfaat untuk program eliminasi di daerah endemis tinggi seperti Kabupaten Sarmi, Papua. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan status leukosit terhadap jenis infeksi malaria di daerah Sarmi, Jayapura, Papua. Penelitian ini merupakan studi observasional dengan desain cross sectional menggunakan data rekam medik di Laboratorium Micro Lab Kota Sarmi pada periode Januari–Desember 2024 dengan total sampel sebanyak 260 pasien. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi jenis infeksi malaria oleh Plasmodium falciparum, P. vivax, dan infeksi gabungan P. falciparum dan P. vivax, jumlah leukosit, jenis kelamin, dan kelompok usia pasien. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji chi-square untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status leukosit dan jenis infeksi malaria. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan distribusi jenis infeksi malaria: P. falciparum 45,4%, P. vivax 39,6%, dan infeksi campuran 15,0%, dengan pasien laki-laki mendominasi sebesar 65,5%. Status leukosit pasien menunjukkan 52,33% normal, 33,33% leukopenia, dan 62,50% mengalami leukositosis pada infeksi P. falciparum. Hasil dari uji chi-square menunjukkan belum cukup bukti adanya hubungan signifikan antara status leukosit dan jenis infeksi malaria dengan nilai (p = 0,336). Kontribusi temuan penelitian ini penting dalam pemahaman respon imun hematologi terhadap jenis infeksi malaria. Selain itu, hasil riset dapat digunakan sebagai dasar pertimbangan dalam penyusunan strategi pencegahan, pengendalian dan eliminasi malaria di daerah endemis tinggi serta mendukung pengembangan kajian hematologi terkait malaria.
